Cut Flower Achillea Pastel Berry Seedling Pack
Achillea millefolium
Cut Flower Achillea/Yarrow seedlings, grown in Marlborough by Gray Floral, shipping NZ wide.
Achillea (also known as Yarrow) is the unsung hero of the cutting patch. A tough and fuss free perennial, it will handle drought, neglect and a heavy handed spade through in autumn to divide your favourite colours - but it does do well with netting if you're set on harvesting straight stems. These plants will flower in their first year in late spring/early summer.
Pastel berry is a mix of our favourite mixes - everything from soft pastel salmon, pink, coral, yellow, terracotta, lilac and buttercream. As this is a handmixed pack, we can't guarantee which colours will be in each pack. Easily divided in autumn/winter to bulk up your stock of preferred colours, and a favourite with bees, pollinators and beneficial insects. A wonderful filler in bouquets and perfect for a dry garden.
Pack of 6 or 12 Achillea Pastel Berry Plants

NOTES ON GROWING
Height: 40-50cm
Spacing: 35-45cm
Harvest: When the umbels have fully opened and begin to flatten - you can see when the teeny florets have opened and their pollen is showing. Closed florets on the spray have a habit of wilting. Harvest early in the morning or later in the evening, and condition for a few hours. Be sure to strip all foliage for best vase life. Particularly wimpy stems can be revived with a 10 second dip in near boiling water.
Vase life: 7 days
All our seedlings are grown in a custom cut flower mix which contains Trichoderma to assist in healthy root development and resistance to root pathogens. To give your seedlings the best start in your garden we recommend soaking them in a weak seaweed feed (or one of our "Seedling Shots") before planting.
We are proud to be partnering with Sustaina Grow to package our seedlings in a wool wrap that maintains moisture and protects the seedlings in transit. On arrival, take your plants out of the box and give them a good drink of water - you can leave them wrapped in the wool to do this! When you're ready to plant or pot on you can unwrap the seedlings, but they will happily spend a couple of days in their wool blanket before planting.
This wool liner makes a wonderful mulch mat that can be used with your seedlings or around any plant in your garden. Everything apart from labels (which we hope you'll use in the garden and time and time again) and stickers are compostable, in an effort to keep our shipping sustainable for the environment.
