Cut Flower Lavatera 'Green & Gorgeous' Seedling Pack
Lavatera trimestris
Cut Flower Lavatera seedlings, grown in Marlborough by Gray Floral, shipping NZ wide.
We are so excited to bring this mix to NZ, bred by Green & Gorgeous Flowers in the UK (Rachel's book 'The Cut Flower Sourcebook is a must read). We have a limited number of these plants, grown from seed we brought back from the Green & Gorgeous Flower Farm which we were lucky enough to visit. Thank you to Rachel & Ash for their wonderful hospitality! We saw Lavatera being grown extensively in the manor gardens, in both the picking patches and perennial borders. It was in full flower in late summer and appears to love the heat. Adding a gorgeous tropical touch to bouquets while lasting super well in the vase it is on our own must-grow list this year!
This is our first year growing the Lavatera, so I have included Rachel's growing notes. Images are our own photos, taken at the Green & Gorgeous Flower Farm - the mix includes pink through to white.
Description from Green & Gorgeous:
A blush pink half-hardy mallow from Floret. The hibiscus-like flowers have dark cherry centres and subtle striations, they are produced abundantly over a period of three months. The plants have a branching habit so there is plenty of to pick, which will also encourages more blooms.

All our seedlings are grown in a custom cut flower mix which contains Trichoderma to assist in healthy root development and resistance to root pathogens. To give your seedlings the best start in your garden we recommend soaking them in a weak seaweed feed (or one of our "Seedling Shots") before planting.
We wrap our seedlings bareroot in newspaper to maintain moisture and pack them with utmost care. We recommend if you're not ready to plant them immediately that you do pot them up until it's time for them to go in the garden, and be sure to give them a good water on arrival.
We are proud to be partnering with Sustaina Grow to package our seedlings in a wool outer that maintains moisture and protects the seedlings in transit. This wool liner makes a wonderful mulch mat that can be used with your seedlings or around any plant in your garden. Everything apart from labels (which we hope you'll use in the garden and time and time again) and stickers are compostable, in an effort to keep our shipping sustainable for the environment.
