Cut Flower Phlox Seedling Pack
Phlox Drummondii
Cut Flower Phlox Creme Brules seedlings, grown in Marlborough by Gray Floral, shipping NZ wide.
Phlox is a bit of an enigma in the cutting garden. Grow it well and you'll have a wonderfully productive flower that fits into just about any bouquet. Fail to net it or cut it hard and you will have beautiful but horizontal crop aiming for the edges of your garden bed.
Be sure to support your phlox with netting if you are wanting a harvestable crop over a long period - and make sure to cut the first few short stems - they will lengthen as the season goes on and reward you for doing so.
I have also grown Phlox in pots and troughs where it's sprawling nature makes for a beautiful feature plant - so if netting isn't for you but you still want to grow this lovely scented beauty it can be grown outside the cutting garden and still bring lots of joy.
Creme Brulee sits right in the neutral colour palate, it hs soft beige, hints of lilac, white and deeper purple and can be really useful in tying in colour groups from your focal flowers.
Isabellina is softest antique cream, and works well in an off white colour palate.
Alba is pure white and perfect for wedding work.
Cold hardy, it will handle frosts, and the more you pick it the more it will bloom and give you longer stems. But if you're growing in pots, a simple deadhead when the flowers look tired is all you need to do to get months of colour.

All our seedlings are grown in a custom cut flower mix which contains Trichoderma to assist in healthy root development and resistance to root pathogens. To give your seedlings the best start in your garden we recommend soaking them in a weak seaweed feed (or one of our "Seedling Shots") before planting.
We are proud to be partnering with Sustaina Grow to package our seedlings in a wool wrap that maintains moisture and protects the seedlings in transit. On arrival, take your plants out of the box and give them a good drink of water - you can leave them wrapped in the wool to do this! When you're ready to plant or pot on you can unwrap the seedlings, but they will happily spend a couple of days in their wool blanket before planting.
This wool liner makes a wonderful mulch mat that can be used with your seedlings or around any plant in your garden. Everything apart from labels (which we hope you'll use in the garden and time and time again) and stickers are compostable, in an effort to keep our shipping sustainable for the environment.
